The Spinecor corrective bracing device is designed to allow for total freedom of movement.
This is important especially in the child patient because movement allows for proprioceptive input to the brain
(the input from nerves in your joints telling the brain where a part of your body is at any given time). It
also allows for the strengthening of muscle instead of atrophy, or the loss of muscle mass due to lack of
movement which also results in weakness. We encourage the child patient to participate in all activities
while wearing the brace which is worn under clothing and is invisible to others. This increases compliance,
resulting in greater changes.
Of great importance is early detection in children. The smaller the curve when bracing, the greater the
results will typically be. The "lets wait and see what happens" is not recommended. During growth spurts,
curves can progress rapidly making the parent wish they would have braced their child earlier. It is very
possible to change the direction of a curve that is still growing and less possible to change one that has
stopped growing.
